Get to Know Your Congregation!
Introducing .... Mary Ann Ramey

Mary Ann Ramey is a resident of 3221 Clear Stream Drive, Whitehall, not too far away from the house she grew up in.

As a young girl she attended and was confirmed in First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua. She fondly remembers attending Sunday school, learning bible stories; the picnics at Camp Brainerd and her special memories of Vacation Bible School (where her mother and Jeannette Hause volunteered), where they did crafts and sang songs that she later taught her own children. She also remembers Barbara Quigg, the youth program and the plays they put on. The youth sold tickets to the community.

She graduated from Whitehall-Coplay High School. During her high school years you could always find her in the art department painting. After graduation she attended Lehigh County Community College where she was the editor of the yearbook. She graduated from LVCC with an associate in Business Administration and an Associate in Purchasing and Material Management. Later in life she went to De Sales University. In 1994 she graduated from De Sales University, Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Business and then went on to graduate in 2001 from De Sales with a Master Degree in Business Administration.

After she married, her family attended Grace United Church in Northampton. There she taught Sunday school for seventeen years, teaching her class the bible stories, and songs she learned at the First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua.

Mary Ann has worked for Whitehall Township as the purchasing agent since 1989. She also served as president of PAPPA (Pennsylvania Public Purchasing Association) and as president of the LVCPC (Lehigh Valley Cooperative Purchasing Council). In 1996 she obtained her CPPO (Certified Public Purchasing Official), under the National Institute of Government Purchasing.

Mary Ann enjoys painting pictures, photography, videos and creating special gifts utilizing photos and the computer for friends and family. Mary Ann's most favorite thing in the world is spending time with her sons (Paul, Michael and Richard), grandchildren (Jocelyn, Cole and Skye) and her fiancé, Gregg Miller.

In 1994 she purchased a home in Hokendauqua and decided to check out the church she grew up in. She was overwhelmed with the welcomed responses from familiar faces as well as new faces. She realized, she found her home, her new church family in The First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua.

In 2003, she has served as Vice President of Session, and is currently serving as an elder on session. Mary Ann compiled the 150th Anniversary Book for our church. She feels blessed and thankful to belong to such a warm and loving church.
