John: Retired. Now a Pennsylvania Certified Horticulturist, Penn State Master Gardener with Lehigh County. Has enjoyed teaching vegetable gardening to under-privileged inner city Allentown kids. Currently - a part time student at LCCC in Horticulture.
Both: Four wonderful children and 9 grandchildren keep us busy.

Involvement with Hokey Pres:
Joyce: Former VBS and Sunday School teacher, Elder, and Representative to Presbytery.
John: Former Elder and Sunday School teacher.

Fun, special memories:
1 - Our church sponsored a mission to the migrant farm workers who serviced the local orchards back in the 1970s. Several church members - especially the youth - joined us on our weekly rounds of all the
orchards, both caring for the workers and painting and sprucing up their living quarters.
2 - All member weekend retreat at Camp Brainerd.
3 - Peach festival and church dinners.
4 - VBS in Carpenter's Den.

How did we find Hokey Pres?
We visited the church - only two blocks from our home. The people were friendly - so we became regular members.

Family Info:
Four children - Laura, Sharon, Jack and David. Laura was married in Hokey Pres church. Our daughter, Sharon, was married by Minister Dave Batchelder, who drove to Boston, MA to do so. All four children were confirmed in Hokey Pres church. Our nine grandchildren love visiting the church.

In conclusion:
We have been very happy at First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua, and we appreciate the love, friendship and support which all of you have given to us over the past 40 years.

John and Joyce
