WELCOME TO ATHENS—BIBLE LEARNING IN A BIG WAY! July 8-12, 2013

If your children or grandchildren haven’t experienced Vacation Bible School yet, they are in for a treat this summer. As our young people become immersed in our Holy Land Adventure, the reality of God’s love will gain new meaning for their everyday lives. They will be able to envision the Apostle Paul walking with them, through the streets of ancient Athens on his second missionary journey. All the while, they will be challenged to share their faith in Jesus. Each year since 2009 I have had the privilege of attending each evening VBS, and I have learned more from our wonderful kids, teachers and kitchen volunteers than they have learned from me. ( I look forward to the delicious dinners and snacks, too!)

At “Athens” Vacation Bible School, children from age 3 through middle school will learn one Bible lesson about God’s love each day (see list below), and they will also hear an exciting story from the Book of Acts. “The Apostle Paul,” dressed in costume, will tell stories to the children each evening! Again this year, we offer separate preschool and grade school classes, with experienced teachers and age-appropriate learning fun for all! Special dress-up nights and dancing add to the fun.

Classes begin with a free, nutritious dinner at five thirty, and they end with singing and sharing at eight thirty. We have decided to return to the week-long schedule, because this format meets the needs of families and uses church resources more efficiently than the once-a-week plan we had tried last year. We hope you and your family will join us. For more information, see VBS Director Debbie Snyder or Sunday School Superintendent Eileen Tremblay. Pre-registration is required; forms are available now.

1. Day One (July 8) -- God loves us all. (Psalm 145:9)
2. Day Two (July 9) -- God loves us and takes care of us. (I Peter 5:7)
3. Day Three(July 10) -- God loves us when others don’t. (Psalm 118:6)
4. Day Four(July 11) -- God loves us and sent His Son, Jesus. (John 3:16)
5. Day Five (July 12) -- God loves us and wants us all to share His love. (John 13:34).

It’s our prayer that “Athens“ Vacation Bible School will bring the early days of Christianity to life like never before, drawing our children, parents, and volunteers closer to Christ. I will be praying for, and with our kids, asking God to guide and bless them on this adventure, as they join Paul on his dangerous journey to share God’s truth!

Blessings,
Pastor Joyce
