Spring Has Arrived!
Spring has arrived! We open the doors and windows to enjoy the fresh air. Flowers are blooming in our church's Memorial Garden. Warm breezes rejuvenate us as God's creation is reborn. The scents of spring bring back memories of wonderful Easters from our childhoods.
We hope that you will join us at our 8:00 am or 10:00 am worship service on April 8 to celebrate Christ's Resurrection. Our choir will sing at both services.
Lent and Easter have come early this year. After Easter, many folks race headlong into outdoor activities. Students enjoy spring break, and families plan summer trips to the shore. As we anticipate our late spring and summer journeys, Easter tends to fade from our minds too quickly. I am determined to stay an "Easter Person" well into the summer, and I hope, even longer.
I just read Oswald Chambers' My Utmost for His Highest. The title of one devotion from that book us: "Our Lord's Surprise Visits." Take a moment to decide if you are ready for Him:
"Jesus rarely comes where we expect Him; He appears where we least expect Him, and always in the most illogical situations. The only way a servant can remain true to God is to be ready for the Lord's surprise visits. This readiness will not be brought about by service, but through intense spiritual reality, expecting Jesus Christ at every turn. This sense of expectation will give our life the attitude of childlike wonder He wants it to have."
As we enjoy the arrival of warm weather, I hope we will all appreciate Christ's visits to us. I pray that we'll be prepared to notice Him. "When He suddenly appears in the work of the heat of the day, you will be the only one who is ready," Chambers writes.
In the months to come, may we live each moment, and may we be open to the wonder of His presence at every turn.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Joyce
