September 2016
Our church, and the Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua, have been
awarded a grant by Lehigh Presbytery to hire a part-time youth group leader for
one calendar year, beginning in October. Meetings of the group will be held
every other week, alternating between the two churches. During the month of
September we will be seeking applicants for the new position. A minimum of
two years of college and teaching experience are required. Please let the pastor
know of your interest in the position, or call Reverend Doug Cronce, pastor of
the Catasauqua Presbyterian Church, at 484-264- 3959 to receive a job
description and additional information.
Two new members of our church, Rebecca Bilder and Tatyana Alston,
traveled to West Virginia from July 2-10 as part of a Mission Trip co-sponsored
by our church, the Barn (a New Church Development in Salisbury Township),
and Faith Church, Emmaus. Their journey was supported by our congregation.
Taty and Becky, who are a sophomore and freshman at Whitehall High School,
worked with teens and adults to help with no-cost home repairs for elderly,
disadvantaged and disabled residents of Cedar Grove, a mining town located in
Appalachia. Projects they helped to complete, included painting, porch and step
repairs, and weatherization.
Shania Schlosser, a senior at Whitehall High School, participated in
PC(USA)’s Youth Triennium, a convention of thousands of Presbyterian youth
held at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, from July 19-23. She was
supported by our congregation and, in addition, received a special grant from
our Board of Deacons. At the event, Shania attended daily worship, prayer
services, small group meetings and other special events, and worked on a
mission project with Presbyterian students from all over the USA. Our church
had sponsored Shania as a Triennium delegate in the summer before her
freshman year, as well.
Enjoy your September!
